Peter Walker, Guitar Shaman [Montreal]
Legendary 60's guitar shaman Peter Walker,
whose '66 release of the album "Rainy Day Raga," on Vanguard, complete with liner notes by Timothy Leary, sparked the birth of a musical genre, (and launched at least 10,000 acid trips,) played a small venue called Sala Rossa [4848 Rue St. Laurent] in Montreal on Friday, 12.8.06. Now a flamenco master as well, Peter held the room spellbound, and easily demonstrated what another 38 years of practice and inspiration can do for an already superb musician. Ever the gentle and generous spirit, he told stories, gave tips on interesting guitar tunings, and generally played his ass off. Wow!
